Welding Services Built for Industrial and Commercial Projects

At Metal Workz LLC, welding is one of our core capabilities and the foundation of most of what we build. Our welders work across a range of processes, from fast MIG welding for production fabrication to precise TIG welding for stainless steel and high-aesthetic applications. We handle structural steel fabrication, custom weldments, heavy equipment repair, and precision components for manufacturing customers.

We are based in Albany, Kentucky and serve industrial and commercial customers across the United States. Whether you need a single prototype weldment or ongoing production of welded assemblies, our team delivers consistent quality with direct communication from quoting through delivery.

Welding Processes

Welding Methods We Use

We select the right welding process for each project based on material, thickness, joint design, and finish requirements. Here is what we offer:

GMAW

MIG Welding

Fast, clean, and versatile. MIG welding uses a wire electrode with shielding gas to produce strong welds across a wide range of metal thicknesses with minimal cleanup.

Best for: production fabrication, steel and aluminum, structural work
GTAW

TIG Welding

Precise, controlled, and aesthetically clean. TIG welding uses a tungsten electrode and inert gas for superior weld quality where finish and accuracy matter most.

Best for: stainless steel, aluminum, visible welds, thin material
SMAW

Arc Welding

Highly versatile with excellent penetration. Arc welding uses a coated consumable electrode and works in challenging positions and on surfaces that may not be perfectly clean.

Best for: structural steel, heavy plate, outdoor and field repairs
FCAW

Flux-Cored Arc Welding

Combines the speed of wire feed with flux protection for high-deposition structural welding. Suitable for thicker sections and applications where high productivity matters.

Best for: structural steel, heavy fabrication, high-deposition applications

Need Automated Welding for a Production Run?

For repeat parts and high-volume weldments, our robotic MIG welding system delivers identical weld quality on every part at production speed. If your project involves repeating joint patterns and quantities of 25 or more pieces, robotic welding may be the right fit.

What We Build

Welding Capabilities and Applications

Our welding team handles a broad range of fabrication work. Here are the most common project types we take on:

Capability

Structural Steel Fabrication

Frames, beams, supports, columns, and structural assemblies welded to drawing specifications. We work from customer drawings or can develop structural details for your project.

Capability

Custom Weldments and Assemblies

Custom welded assemblies, brackets, fixtures, and multi-part weldments built to your engineering drawings. We handle single prototypes and ongoing production quantities.

Capability

Heavy Equipment Repair and Reinforcement

Cracked frames, worn components, broken attachments, and structural reinforcement on agricultural, construction, and industrial equipment. We weld what others turn away.

Capability

Precision Components for Manufacturing

Tight-tolerance weldments for manufacturing applications where fit-up, distortion control, and dimensional accuracy are critical. We work to your inspection criteria.

Capability

Custom Railings, Guards, and Frames

Handrails, machine guards, equipment frames, and decorative structural metalwork welded in steel, stainless steel, or aluminum to your specifications.

Capability

Weld Seam Closing After Forming

Closing the longitudinal seam on rolled cylinders, bent cones, and formed sheet metal parts. We roll and weld in-house for a complete process from flat plate to finished shell.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of welding do you offer?
We offer MIG welding (GMAW), TIG welding (GTAW), arc welding (SMAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). We also offer robotic MIG welding for production runs requiring consistent, repeatable welds at volume. Our team selects the appropriate process based on your material, thickness, joint design, and finish requirements.
What materials can you weld?
We weld mild steel, carbon steel (A36, A572, A514), stainless steel (304, 316, 430), and aluminum (6061, 5052, 3003). We also weld galvanized steel and structural steel sections. For specialty alloys, contact us to confirm compatibility before submitting a project.
Do you weld aluminum?
Yes. Aluminum welding is available using TIG (GTAW) or MIG (GMAW) processes depending on the application. Aluminum requires specific filler materials and shielding gas, and our team handles the process requirements as part of the job setup. We weld 6061, 5052, and 3003 aluminum regularly.
Can you repair heavy equipment by welding?
Yes. Heavy equipment repair is one of our most common welding applications. We repair cracked frames, broken attachments, worn buckets, and structural components on agricultural, construction, and industrial equipment. Contact us with photos and a description of the damage for a repair quote.
What is the difference between manual welding and robotic welding?
Manual welding is performed by our skilled welders and is best suited for complex geometries, one-off custom parts, repairs, and projects where joint configurations vary. Robotic welding uses our automated MIG system and is ideal for production runs of identical or mirrored parts where repeatability and speed are the priority. We offer both and will recommend the right approach for your project. Learn more on our robotic welding services page.
Do you offer welding services near me in Kentucky or Tennessee?
Yes. Metal Workz is located in Albany, KY, in southern Kentucky near the Tennessee border. We serve customers throughout the region who bring or ship parts to our facility, and we ship finished weldments anywhere in the United States. Many of our customers are outside Kentucky and work with us entirely online.
Can you handle both fabrication and welding in one order?
Yes, and this is how most of our customers work with us. We laser cut blanks, form and bend parts, then weld them into finished assemblies, all in our Albany, KY facility. Post-weld finishing including powder coating, deburring, and hardware insertion is also available in-house. One vendor, one shipment.
How do I get a welding services quote?
Submit your drawings, photos, or project description through our contact page at metalworkz.com/contact/ or call (606) 387-3121. Include your material, weld process preference if you have one, quantity, and any finishing requirements. We typically respond within 1-2 business days.
